Software Licensing and Compliance

Importance of Legal Compliance

As a corporate entity, we are subject to regular audits by software vendors like Microsoft and Adobe. Using unlicensed software is a violation of policy and can result in legal fines and reputational damage. Every piece of software must be inventoried by IT. This is why we restrict administrative rights and require installations via the Software Center. Compliance also relates to security; unlicensed software misses critical patches, making it an entry point for malware.

Personal Software Policy

We do not allow the installation of personal software licenses on company laptops. Even 'Home' versions often lack commercial use rights. Additionally, personal software can introduce stability issues or conflict with our security stack. If you have a specific tool you prefer, submit a request. If approved, the company will purchase a corporate license, ensuring the software is supported, updated, and legally compliant.
