Troubleshooting Microsoft Teams Issues

Clearing Teams Cache

Most Teams issues—like missing messages, status errors, or failing to join meetings—can be fixed by clearing the local cache. Close Teams entirely, then navigate to `%appdata%\Microsoft\Teams` and delete the contents of the folder. Restart Teams, and it will rebuild the data from the cloud. This process is a 'silver bullet' for many strange behaviors and should be the first step in your troubleshooting workflow. It ensures that any stale session data or corrupted temporary files are wiped out, giving the app a clean slate to communicate with our enterprise servers.

Audio and Video Settings

If others cannot hear or see you, click the three dots (...) during a call and select 'Device Settings.' Ensure the correct microphone and camera are selected. Sometimes, Windows privacy settings block the app from accessing the hardware; check 'Privacy & Security' in your system settings to grant permission. Ensure you have 'Auto-Adjust Microphone Sensitivity' toggled on to prevent your audio from clipping or sounding too quiet during presentations. If you are using a wireless headset, confirm it is set as both the 'Speaker' and 'Microphone' to avoid audio routing conflicts.
