Requesting a TAP
A Temporary Access Pass (TAP) is a time-limited passcode that allows you to sign in to your account when MFA is unavailable. This is usually issued to new employees during onboarding or to existing employees who have lost their mobile device. To request a TAP, you must join a video call with an IT representative or visit the IT bar in person. This ensures that we are providing access to the correct individual. Note that TAPs are strictly controlled and their issuance is logged for audit purposes. You should only request a TAP if all other recovery methods, such as backup phone numbers or security keys, have failed.
Validation Process
To receive a TAP, you will need to present a government-issued ID or a valid employee badge. Once verified, the technician will generate a code that is valid for 8 hours. This code acts as a one-time bypass for the standard MFA requirement. During the video call, you may be asked to answer security questions related to your employment record. This high level of scrutiny is necessary because a TAP provides full access to your digital identity. Once the pass is generated, it will be shared with you over a secure channel, and you must use it before the expiration time to avoid having to restart the verification process.
